The goal: to explore the potential of electric mobility in hazardous goods logistics and move closer to a climate-friendly future.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"679\">What We Tested<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"681\" data-end=\"943\">In this pilot, the e-truck carried out two deliveries of MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) to Kingspan in Winterswijk. The total transported load was 48 tonnes &#8211; demonstrating that electric trucks are capable of handling complex and safety-sensitive cargo.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"945\" data-end=\"982\">Key Benefits of E-Truck Transport<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"986\" data-end=\"1080\">Energy Savings: The electric truck used over 50% less energy than a traditional diesel truck.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1083\" data-end=\"1200\">CO\u2082 Reduction: When powered by renewable electricity, the e-truck operates with nearly zero carbon emissions.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1203\" data-end=\"1357\">Noise Reduction: Electric trucks offer quieter operations, contributing to reduced noise pollution &#8211; especially important in urban or residential areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1384\"><\/h3>\n<h3 data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1384\">Challenges Identified<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1386\" data-end=\"1442\">Despite the positive results, several challenges remain:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1445\" data-end=\"1536\">Limited availability of ADR-approved e-trucks for transporting hazardous materials.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1539\" data-end=\"1611\">Payload reduction of approximately 1.5 tonnes due to battery weight.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1614\" data-end=\"1704\">Insufficient infrastructure at loading and unloading points, especially in ATEX zones.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1707\" data-end=\"1776\">Dependence on external power sources during unloading operations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1778\" data-end=\"1816\"><\/h3>\n<h3 data-start=\"1778\" data-end=\"1816\">What\u2019s Needed for Broader Adoption<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1818\" data-end=\"1918\">For <strong data-start=\"1822\" data-end=\"1833\">e-truck<\/strong> transport to become a reliable and scalable solution in chemical logistics, we need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1921\" data-end=\"1990\">Adjustments to legal weight limits to compensate for heavy batteries.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1993\" data-end=\"2062\">A wider range of ADR-compliant electric truck models from manufacturers.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2065\" data-end=\"2169\">Greater collaboration between logistics partners to develop adequate charging and safety infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"2171\" data-end=\"2189\"><\/h3>\n<h3 data-start=\"2171\" data-end=\"2189\">Moving Forward<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2191\" data-end=\"2460\">This pilot project is a meaningful first step in our journey toward greener transport. At Rinnen, we believe in testing, learning, and improving together.
